sirens

yeh yeh ok ok

we've been recording for NRone. it has been massive. we have no vocals done yet, cos us being late on the first day and all threw us a bit, and our perfectionism has forced us to book and need more time. but word on the street is that it is sounding beef. we played the band name game today whilst nathan was laying it! the amount of bands that we came up with that start with an 's' was actually amazing.

we had a gig in lincoln the other day (last week) which was fun fun funny, apart from the tiredness. we played THE name game on the way there (the brownies are all about games at the mo) and the best name to be stuck on a head was blatantly sophies for mike: papa smurf. well done sophie, a truly innovative choice. other than that, our gig at the arts centre with monroes was beast, the incredible bloody foot stealing the show.

we went to see cheeky cheeky last night, but because of the huge amount of bands playing, we were physically incapable of actually watching them. we will surely catch them live soon. we also met up with social group which was a treat. we talked about a hopeful arts centre gig which would be obese. more info TBC (if im gonna get all formal on you). the 20p toys were incredible (true story). thanks to guy for his heart (hehe).

for those of you who are cool, a surprise exit by melinda in american idol was big in the brownies week. as was chelsea winning the fa cup. big shock. big travesty. (drogba the cheater)
the girls of the band have tickets for hadouken, or hadorken (if youre singing it), so we're loving them like proper badly. we are also loving the dancefloor proper well bad.
ive just had a mahusive meal, and nathan has just arrived so i will go and join the social group and chillax.

R.I.P to the incidentals, who we loved from the first time we saw them at the cricketers rest all those moons ago.

love love
xx

that was beast yes it were.

getting back from building fires at whitlingham lane puts us in a nice mood. maybe.

we went to see the pistolas last night at the waterfront which was sex. dancing and enjoying the fine array of local talent is fun, whilst it is also good supporting the local scene ;)
talking of the local scene, norwich was in the nme magazine last week. despite nme's recent lack of goodness, it is an international magazine, and it is a good thing that some of the norwich scene got in there. i know that a lot of the good bands in norwich were left out but it would be impossible to list every band in the norwich scene. and maybe this will help the whole of norwich get recognised more as a city with a beastly music scene, which it is.
to anyone that wants to discredit the achievment of all the bands that got in, then maybe they should start a band and see all the hard work it takes to get noticed at all.

we recorded a set at ashwood studios last weekend which was fun. we drank lots of kick and ate hobnobs, not to mention us ploughing through our songs like a combine harvester on an overgrown field. hopefully we'll be hearing more about them soon.
this morning we did an interview with radio norwich, and stevie said "porn" which apparently is not allowed. they are playing the interview and vaseline kid on monday(2nd) at 6:30.

now we are wetting ourselves with great anticipation for the gig on april 12th at the waterfront. come one come all. it will be sexual.

lastly, i am starting 'brownie chart', just because i can, where we will inform the wide globe of our hottest chooooooons. so heres mine, next week will be nathanials;

1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs- anything and everything
2. New Young Pony Club- The Bomb and Ice Cream
3. Beastie Boys- Sabotage
4. The Grates- 19 20 20
5. Be Your Own Pet- Wildcat!
6. Biffy- Saturday Superhouse
7. Le Tetsuo- I Understand If You Speak Slowly EP

news? none? news! some!

pro evo is happening on a big scale. tournament at the queen charlotte is on sunday, so we're all training hard. it's tough.

the gig at B2 was obese. all the bands were immense (giant robot were added to the bill), and b2 was packed out. we all loved le tetsuo (a bit too much?) and are thankful that they could make the journey back to the green green grass of home to play with us. gggrits got everyone moving and were better than when i saw them at NAC, the sound was pphhhat. and giant robot fuzzed things up well good, it was the first time for me, and i loved it! there is a picture above of us in action- yes mate.
it has been said that mikes drum kit is made of the fire from the mouth of a dragon, and the skin of the devil himself, and when he plays, mount vesuvius roars and crumbles. i can assure you that this is not true...

we also went to an indie disco after, and danced for a little while until we had to go=funfunfun

we've got a gig at the waterfront supporting the four fighters! its maxie nathan and sophies first waterfront gig, and we cant wait! we're big foos fans as well, so its a result!

the gospel according to the last few days:
american idol is good, "the prayer" by bloc party is goood, little miss sunshine is gooood. jennifer anniston is bad in everything except friends, crisp sandwiches are good especially with the munchies, ps2 is essential if boredom is to be avoided in half term. and finally, my 18th birthday is in 12 days, so be aware!
peace up, maxie, for and on behalf of The Brownies
xx

whats wrong with us?

we're all ill...sophie has tonsillitus again and mike, nathan and maxie have the dreaded "lurgi" which involves vomit, bad throat, headache and body aches...its not good...so don't come near us. also, mike nearly dislocated maxies shoulder by jumping on her..control yourself michael!

we wanted to go to the bearsuit gig last night..but we have no money and were forced to drop sophie off and watch in despair as she entered the venue (B2) and we drove away.

but all is not as it seems---> vaseline kid was played on radio 1 by huw stevens and is in the 'unsigned podcast'. yay! so go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 to get yours..

the only possible way to make us all feel slightly less ill..is to gaze unto this picture which reassures us that, although we may be ill..we will never be as ill as this poor soul:

A well deserved break yes?

We played the arts centre last night for bracko and tilting sky all in the name of Beat Bullying...we were all quite tired after months of continuous gigging but it was still awesome and toight.
We now have a break for a couple of weeks before the B2 gig..so were gonna try and get some rest and write some new songs...

The gig raised about a grand for charity so fanks a loort...
Also, Sophie bought The Neutrinos 7" for £2, and then mummy gedge won it on the raffle! WHEY!

I had an exam today which hurt my hand...and we all just had some egg rolls. We're thinking of driving to the beach tommorow cos we have a free day...although we have no money...

But the attitude is high in The B Unit. So its all gravy :)

york

its very windy here in norwich, and as we sit huddled in the loft on harford street, while mike gently strokes himself, we recall last night..
played at york. it was quite good. it took ages to get there. about 5 hours. listened to yeah yeah yeahs con-stant-ly. we were all knackered. but nevertheless played a good set. we got home at 3:30. on the way home someone text radio 1 saying how good we were and we left them speechless. huw stephens said, and i quote, "tell you what, we'll play the brownies next week, we've been meaning to play them for a while". we were happy and it made the journey home much more bearable. we're looking forward to howlback hum tommorrow. cant wait to see gggrits. and cant wait to play. we are busy.. :)

read our interview on the radio broadland website.
